Over a thousand years ago, one earth's most advanced societies vanished, leaving behind temples, the ruins of cities, and works of art in the now-overgrown jungles of present-day Mexico and Central America. We call them the Maya, and the abrupt end of their civilization is still a mystery, although the people live on, still carrying forward some of the ancient traditions.
