But Sonic gets a weird reaction from his Chaos Emerald that he's holding, and it turns out that the 'ring' is actually a Chaos Emerald! Knuckles sees the reaction and goes straight to help the gang. But in the shadows Eggman sees the reaction too and decides to jump in with his giant robot to steal the Chaos Emerald for himself!
