Adam-12: Knowing it's against policy, Malloy tries to calm a drunk patron at Cal's bar, only to get decked. While back in the car discussing the department's insistence on following procedure, Reed and Malloy make a routine traffic stop. Before the NCIC computer check clears, the dispatcher broadcasts a domestic dispute in the officers' patrol area. Letting the motorist go, Reed and Malloy jump the call, only to find a nosy neighbor and two actors rehearsing a play. Back on the street, they are called back to the station to face Lt. Moore, who informs them that the motorist they turned loose had warrants out for his arrest on robbery and weapons charges. Smarting from the grilling they took, they are called to the scene of a disturbance, which turns out to be a suicide, before finally using known information to catch the guy they set loose earlier.
