The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp: The story starts with Wyatt returning the personal effects of freed prisoners. One prisoner, Hal Clements played by Neyle Morrow, has a chip on his shoulder, and promises to be back with his brothers. Wyatt says he took care of his brother Mannon (in a recurring role) and he'd be glad to meet the rest of them. A deputy comes in and say there's a "funny lookin dude at the Wichita" (saloon) who wants to meet Wyatt. It's dime novelist Ned Buntline played by LLoyd Corrigan who has come 2000 miles to Wichita, Kansas to present Wyatt Earp with a "Buntline Special", a Colt Peacemaker with a 10" barrel. (The historicity of this is in doubt. It first appears in a 1931 biography of Wyatt Earp by Stuart N. Lake) Wyatt takes Buntline back to the jail, where Ned pitches the true purpose for his visit. A Wild West Show ala Buffalo Bill, starring Wyatt Earp, and the wealth and fame it would bring. Wyatt declines the offer, and throws Buntline out. Doc Holliday played by Douglas Fowley chides Wyatt for his treatment of Buntline, and suggests Wyatt at least try out the gun considering the expense Buntline went through to have it made special for him. Wyatt agrees. Ned Buntline has followed Wyatt out of town and watches as Wyatt proves its accuracy. Ned rides back to town and is met by Gyp Clements played by William Tannen and Hal. They roust him and force him to ride along with them when he claims friendship with Wyatt. Wyatt meets the three of them in town with a scatter gun. Hal Clements demands a shoot out and Wyatt reluctantly agrees. Wyatt returns with the "Buntline Special" on his hip, and stops beyond the normal range of a gunfight. Hal says you can't hit anything at that range, but Wyatt forces his draw. Wyatt lets the boy squeeze off three rounds that miss, and then shoots the kid's hat off. Then Wyatt shoots him in the arm. Ned gets in a little scuffle with Gyp but wins a $100 bet with him over the shoot out. Ned buys drinks for all. Wyatt wants to pay Ned for the gun, but Ned will have none of it. Ned says goodbye to Wyatt and Doc and is off to Boston.
